My Story

I understand there are many blogs chronicling other peoples’ lives out here. My postings, though, will be a little different from the average joe’s (or jane’s, in my case!) The purpose behind this little blog of mine is to share what God is teaching me through a chronic illness in the hope that I may be an encouragement to others who are also dealing with chronic–and sometimes eventually terminal–illnesses.

But, I don’t want be be identified by my illness (as I am sure no one else who deals with something that will last their lifetime would either.)

So, first and foremost, I am a believer in and a follower of Jesus Christ. I was a sinner who had violated a holy God’s law. But this holy God also showed immeasurable mercy and grace by paying the penalty for my sin and reconciling me to Himself through His Son Jesus. How can I do anything by try to live a life that would please the One who gave me everything good and perfect?

I am the wife to the most amazing man I have ever known (and very likely the most amazing man alive) and mom to two precious children who really do light up our little home!

I have some of the greatest friends who are doing some of the greatest things imaginable all over the world!

And the next thing may sound a bit odd,

I have been given a wonderful opportunity to show the grace and power of God like many others will never be able to. I have been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. While I realize that I’m not going to consider this chronic illness such a “wonderful opportunity” every waking minute of my life and that sometimes I will even wish (and beg God) that I didn’t have it, I do know He has promised me that His strength is made perfect in my weakness.

I encourage you to follow along with me as God teaches me what Paul meant when he said he would rather glory in his infirmities that the power of Christ my rest on him. It is my hope that I can help other believers in similar situations trust God, rest in His promises, and give Him glory even in their most difficult circumstances.

Wow! I can’t wait to follow your blog! I have a chronic illness as well, and even though there are plenty of blogs chronicling people with my specific illness, this is going to be unique because I get to hear it from another sister in Christ!
